Untitled WIP - 2004
Untitled WIP - 2004 by mctempo
I recorded drums at my parent house in Rindge NH and then Mike Caswell recorded rhythm tracks at his place in Hinsdale NH and Mark recorded the melodies at his place in Mt. Sterling back in 2004. As you expected ~ WE NEVER FINISHED THE SONG!
Musicians: Mike Caswell, Mark Sparks and Larry S. McDonald.

Another aging song uploaded.
I've been listening to some weird music and it reminded me of this song. This one is aging a bit, but may get some work done to it soon.
I've always been fascinated with soloing over measures and this was another attempt at that. I love the clean guitars but the solo was just a scratch track. A lot of Japanese music does this when it's converting lyrics into English or if they use English words because they don't have a native equivalent.
This song is for my wife, Magen. The most beautiful person in the world, my best friend and constant inspiration. I don't know what I'd do without her. If this song finishes with just a tinch of her beauty, it'll be something amazing.
Love you Mags.

The original 1 o'clock rain.
The 1 o'clock rain that Moose posted is much needed content to the original. Some of the notes in there sound off because of the midi file he had to use (I did mention that I was lazy, right?).
Here's the actual playing of it with synth in the background. I'll get off my dead ass and transcribe it right and put the velocity on the notes as needed. I went out and got a cheapo Yamaha keyboard, I just have to set it up to record midi.
So imagine this piano with the stereo split and with Moose's strings.

Revenge on myself.
This will be revenge on myself for not playing lately.
This is a compilation CD that I was working on and Moose and I started to talk about before the big band Exodus of the time. We may pick it up as I have a ton of scratchpad material.
Scratchpad. Please keep that in mind. It's a story about a man who Wishes his life away. By the time he wakes up, he realizes that he's wished his life away.
Two parts. Point of view from the "dreamer" character, and one from the "machine". This is still under the "Once.Human" project, but could start to take off. I have about 3 songs of each in the folder.
Two guitars, written to actually compliment each other. First time I've written something that wasn't built off riffs. It was recorded directly into the 1/8" jack into a laptop using sound recorder. This riff is as good as taking Ambien.
Marksparks+wishpartone by mark.sparks
Second riff is called "Puzzlebox" and comes from the perspective of the machine. This has metronome hi-hat and basic bass to keep time. It's rough, but hopefully we'll see more of this in the future.
Puzzlebox - from the Machine by mark.sparks
Moose wishes he could shred with my mad metronome skillz. In yo' face Steven Shelton!!

Revenge for 1 o'clock rain.
I saw my piano piece on here, so I thought I'd post something that was all Moose. This track is currently on the unfinished CD, and was called "Monster Hole". Duane will give it a much better name.
This was the track before Duane did vocals over them. Moose was doing some drum composition and modification between the clean parts. The name of this track is actually "MH mark will hate".
I actually like this alot. I think the EFX made the song much better. It's the most straight metal chunky song that we have.
Enjoy. I sure do. This is in my favorite of all tracks, only because of the cool semi-industrial Stormdrum stuff that's in there. This shows that there are drummers out there, and there are drummer-musicians (which I call percussionists since they transcend just drums).

Moose doesn't know what's good...
This is another version of Dead Letters that further showcases Duane's vocals. I like this one a bit better. The chorus to this one, he chooses the higher interval and ....well, it's just amazing. Both are great. Duane is a better singer than most in Columbus (that I've heard) and a better guitarist than most as well.
Hearing this old stuff makes me want to play again, but it gets boring writing at home. I miss the days when music wasn't written over long distances. Most all this old stuff was written in Larry's basement while Mackey was taking a Monster Kitty Shit in the corner. Watching them fight in the front yard while Larry was singing the fight scene music from Star Trek was a hoot.
Moose does know what's good. I just like to get his goat.

Dead Letters (Working Title) - DEMO
Dead Letters (Working Title) - DEMO by mctempo
This is another unfinished track created from the ruins of "Dead Letters". Duane has renamed the song and I can't remember the new title. The mix is terrible and that's 100% my fault. Hopefully we'll have a better mix posted later this year.
Musicians: Duane Freeborn, Mike Lare, Mark Sparks & Larry S. McDonald.

Once Human - Demo - One O'clock rain - Strings & Piano Version
Once Human - Demo - One O'clock rain - Strings & Piano Version by mctempo
This is another version of One O'clock Rain that I created from Mark's MIDI files. It's mainly strings and piano and some very light percussion. I think I like the original better but I like the clarity of this piece. I still think this is my favorite song written by Mark.
I like the use of stereo piano to divide the highs and lows.
Musicians: Mark Sparks.

This is a song I wrote and recorded when I was going through my " I love ChromaKey" phase. I actually liked it but I was always ashamed that I could never finish a complete project.

This is by far my favorite piece of work that Mark has written. I know he wrote and recorded this back in 2004 and I've always loved it. Hurry up and listen before Mark makes me take it down.

Snooze-fest week.
I haven't done crap when it's come to music this week. I got my laptop ready for recording as it does better than my hoss gaming desktop for drop-outs and musicial anomoloies. (Intel processors are the only way to go for a DAW).
I will update the "blag" if I make any progress over the weekend. I may just call this whole week, weekend included, cancelled due to lack of interest.

More creds.
We’ve had a lot of people on these projects. Here is a list of who did what. Very talented cats here, and I wish them the best :
Larry McDonald – Drums, recording, mastering (no easy task).
Duane Freeborn – Vocals (writing and performance).
Mike Lare – Bass on the 4 newest tracks. I’ll update with track names here in a bit since some changed.
Pete Rensch – Rhythm guitars on the original works.
Mark Sparks (Da Gooch) – The arpeggiated guitar stuff. I did the writing and composition of the songs. I’m Larry’s bitch so he owns half of all this mess.
Carlos Alvarez – Bass on the original works.
I’m hoping we get back to writing and playing soon. We’re in serious need of new stuff.
Creds.
Testing my first post. Surprise I stopped eating long enough to write an entry.
Falling down demo… man, this one is rough. I’m looking for an alternate version. You can hear 3 places where I mess up. I was probably thinking of hamburgers or pie. Mmm. Pie.
The newer version is being recorded now. It doesn’t have the benefit of “Pete’s” tasty rhythm guitars, so I don’t know if it’ll turn out as well as it could’ve. My rhythms tend to be not as meaty, and that song needs meat. I’m also working on a tribute to St. Joe (Satriani). I’ll see if Moose can put up the track.

More word on “A Thousand Smiles” soon. I almost have both tracks down, then Moose and I will add distortion on the chorus, verse into / outros and the end. Chorus flows nice when I’m not messing up my riffs.

"Unsaid-DEMO" - Tykens Rift
Unsaid-DEMO by mctempo
This is a song we actually started tracking in 2009. We're finally in the process of having the 4 songs we recorded for this project mixed and mastered by someone more competent than myself. This is a rough mix I did last year that wasn't intended to be posted publicly. Oops.
Musicians: Duane Freeborn, Mike Lare, Mark Sparks & Larry S. McDonald.

"Untitled-Song1" - 2TonsMetric
Untitled-Song1 by mctempo
I believe this was written and recorded back in 2006 with Chris Lauterbach and Chris Cheney. I was briefly living in NH and we wrote 2 songs but this is the only recording we ever made. I think this project would have been fun but I moved back to Ohio and the whole project fizzled. I was the "Yoko Ono" of the band. Our working band name was 2TonsMetric.
My drumming skills were rather poor during this time period since I had quit playing for almost an entire year.

2 Craptastic Songs for your listening pleasure...
This is two atmospheric incomplete songs I never finished since my guitar playing skills are severely lacking. They were basically created out of boredom and my attempt to write theatrical background music. I don't have the original tracks and can only post the embedded files from myspace. That really pisses me off since I HATE mydisgrace.
