Untitled WIP - 2004

Untitled WIP - 2004 by mctempo
I recorded drums at my parent house in Rindge NH and then Mike Caswell recorded rhythm tracks at his place in Hinsdale NH and Mark recorded the melodies at his place in Mt. Sterling back in 2004. As you expected ~ WE NEVER FINISHED THE SONG!

Musicians: Mike Caswell, Mark Sparks and Larry S. McDonald.

Dead Letters (Working Title) - DEMO

Dead Letters (Working Title) - DEMO by mctempo
This is another unfinished track created from the ruins of "Dead Letters". Duane has renamed the song and I can't remember the new title. The mix is terrible and that's 100% my fault. Hopefully we'll have a better mix posted later this year.

Musicians: Duane Freeborn, Mike Lare, Mark Sparks & Larry S. McDonald.

Parody coming soon?

I may record a parody this weekend if I can find someone to engineer for me.  I think it will be funny but I have a  derpity derp derp sense of humor.  We'll see what happens.

Later and take care...

Once Human - Demo - One O'clock rain - Strings & Piano Version

Once Human - Demo - One O'clock rain - Strings & Piano Version by mctempo
This is another version of One O'clock Rain that I created from Mark's MIDI files.  It's mainly strings and piano and some very light percussion.  I think I like the original better but I like the clarity of this piece.  I still think this is my favorite song written by Mark.

I like the use of stereo piano to divide the highs and lows.

Once Human - Demo - Device

Once Human - Demo - Device by mctempo
This is a song I wrote and recorded when I was going through my " I love ChromaKey" phase.  I actually liked it but I was always ashamed that I could never finish a complete project.

Once Human - Demo - The Storm of Knowing

Once Human - Demo - The Storm of Knowing by mctempo
This is a slightly better quality version of "The Storm of Knowing" that is posted on Youtube.com.

Once Human - Demo - One O'Clock Rain

One O'Clock Rain by mctempo
This is by far my favorite piece of work that Mark has written.  I know he wrote and recorded this back in 2004 and I've always loved it.  Hurry up and listen before Mark makes me take it down.

More creds.

We’ve had a lot of people on these projects. Here is a list of who did what. Very talented cats here, and I wish them the best :

Larry McDonald – Drums, recording, mastering (no easy task).

Duane Freeborn – Vocals (writing and performance).

Mike Lare – Bass on the 4 newest tracks. I’ll update with track names here in a bit since some changed.

Pete Rensch – Rhythm guitars on the original works.

Mark Sparks (Da Gooch) – The arpeggiated guitar stuff. I did the writing and composition of the songs. I’m Larry’s bitch so he owns half of all this mess.

Carlos Alvarez – Bass on the original works.

I’m hoping we get back to writing and playing soon. We’re in serious need of new stuff.

Creds.

Testing my first post. Surprise I stopped eating long enough to write an entry.
Falling down demo… man, this one is rough. I’m looking for an alternate version. You can hear 3 places where I mess up. I was probably thinking of hamburgers or pie. Mmm. Pie.

The newer version is being recorded now.  It doesn’t have the benefit of “Pete’s” tasty rhythm guitars, so I don’t know if it’ll turn out as well as it could’ve. My rhythms tend to be not as meaty, and that song needs meat. I’m also working on a tribute to St. Joe (Satriani). I’ll see if Moose can put up the track.

More word on “A Thousand Smiles” soon. I almost have both tracks down, then Moose and I will add distortion on the chorus, verse into / outros and the end. Chorus flows nice when I’m not messing up my riffs.

"Unsaid-DEMO" - Tykens Rift

Unsaid-DEMO by mctempo
This is a song we actually started tracking in 2009. We're finally in the process of having the 4 songs we recorded for this project mixed and mastered by someone more competent than myself. This is a rough mix I did last year that wasn't intended to be posted publicly. Oops.

Musicians: Duane Freeborn, Mike Lare, Mark Sparks & Larry S. McDonald.

"Untitled-Song1" - 2TonsMetric

Untitled-Song1 by mctempo
I believe this was written and recorded back in 2006 with Chris Lauterbach and Chris Cheney. I was briefly living in NH and we wrote 2 songs but this is the only recording we ever made. I think this project would have been fun but I moved back to Ohio and the whole project fizzled. I was the "Yoko Ono" of the band. Our working band name was 2TonsMetric.

My drumming skills were rather poor during this time period since I had quit playing for almost an entire year.

This is two atmospheric incomplete songs I never finished since my guitar playing skills are severely lacking. They were basically created out of boredom and my attempt to write theatrical background music. I don't have the original tracks and can only post the embedded files from myspace. That really pisses me off since I HATE mydisgrace.

Once Human - The Storm of Knowning

This is a stupid video I created about 5 years ago for an electronic song I wrote for our "Once Human" project.

Aging Backwards

Aging Backwards by mctempo
This silly little ditty was recorded last year at my condo with my mobile studio setup.  Randy and I were tinkering with some new software and we quickly wrote a stupid song making fun of the local scene.  Please don't take us too seriously.

Falling Down - Demo

Falling-Down DEMO by mctempo
This was recorded on a 4-Track back in 95/96 (unsure).  We've decided to update and re-record and make this one of the first songs we post on this blog.  The new title of the song will be "A Thousand Smiles".  I'm sure it will suck and never be completed in our lifetime.

Musicians:  Carlos Alvarez, Mark Sparks, Pete Rensch & Larry S. McDonald.

Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye...

Our writing process is reminiscent of the above title taken from the genius minds of Lennon & McCartney.  Actually, it's more like a slow painful oozing sensation rather than dripping.  We've been playing music together since 1993 and have yet to release one single complete song.  I guess we peaked back in the late 90's when we posted a 4-track demo on MP3.com and garnered the interest of a German Record label that wanted to sign us to a distribution deal.  The distribution deal was probably the German version of an Amway deal but we never even progressed past that point since our singer quit shortly after he bailed on our first ever gig as we were about to pull out of my driveway.

We're in our late 30's and have come to the realization that we're never going to record a full-length CD or ever play a live show.  We resolved ourselves to quit trying so hard and just record 4 to 5 songs a year and release them on this blog.  Don't expect a professionally polished masterpiece.  We're not going to waste our lives mixing and mastering "free" music.  We're not going to drop $$$ for any fancy logos or CD covers.  This is simply music that you probably won't like.  However if you actually like it; LET US KNOW!  Perhaps that will be the encouragement we need to get off our fat lazy asses and accomplish something.

Until next time...take care.
